such a good helper

I promise I don't make her do this. This girl is soooo into whatever mommy does that she absolutely loves dishwasher time!! If she hears me open the dishwasher she comes running, grabs her potty (that dubs as a foot stool) carries it over and helps me undo the dishes. She gets all into it and has only broken one dish so far. :) Totally worth it. I know these super helpful, run to help w/ dishes days won't last long but it's so fun now!! Such a good girl!! She even knows how to put away a few items like utensils and pots and pans she'll put away for me!!!

Home again home again!!!!!!!!!

Recognize this place??? If you can believe it....it's our old house! Brian and I had the great pleasure of visiting some friends who bought our house on the Knob last night. It was such an amazing night. Rest assured the sweetest little family has moved in and has promised us all that they will carry on the tradition of love and quality family memory making on in it's walls. Chris, Natilie and little 11 mo old Katie moved in in November and have done wonders with our old homestead. I only got a few polite shots of the main living area for you guys to see. Hopefully we'll get another chance to back and show you the rest another time. They did hardwoods through out the whole house. A wide plank rustic wood that adds such a country feel it's beautiful!

They are a precious couple from England and the neighbors have welcomed the new, very OBVIOUS city folk to the community. She said Teddy literally laughed out loud when they pulled up in their Lexus! She's a doctor at RMH and he builds houses. They laughingly refered to the neighbors as..."noticing everything" and "are they all related?!?!?". :) Teddy and Melissa have been great to them helping with all kinds of chores and giving them the inside scoop on how to survive life on the Knob. Teddy insisted Chris get a gun for the other neighbors that will inevitably enjoy the new family and it's scraps. They didn't have much to say about the Kelly's. "Are they friendly?, there the only one's we haven't heard from?". :) They haven't done anything to the outside yet since they've only been there in the winter. They have great plans for the outside. You will all be pleased though, I showed them some of the pictures mom had pulled for them to see, they were in awe of how beautiful the place used to be. They asked for copies of the pics to use as inspiration of how they eventually want to get the place looking like. Chris made the comment, "It's like the place was great once and we're trying to get it back to it's potential!" Natilie LOVED mom's decorating in the photos. She was sooo complimentary.
She made the comment, "that's how I want it, country...just more modern country now". Their nursery for little Katie is Sue's old room. It was decorated so cute! They had a video monitor in there since they were so far away from her. They said they almost didn't buy it cause it's so far away. Abigail had an erie comfort in there. I promise she ran around like she somehow knew that she could be at home there. She went room to room and she never does that in other people's homes!! My room was a chocolate colored office. Amy's room was the guest room. Both our bathrooms were exactly the same. Even down to mom's old rose knobs on the cabinet. The basement looked the same, new carpet. She showed me the raw side and it looked exactly like us. She was so embarrased. Full to the brim of stuff! They had no idea what to do w/ the apple room! :) His plans were for a 'man cave' down there and already had a hockey table in there. I told her she had to get some big pillows and stuff them behind the water heater for katie to make a fort back under the stairs like we did. Mom and Dad's room looked great. Simple, they haven't bought real furniture for it yet but they have big plans for a big bed. Their bathroom was totally redone. A nice enclosed shower and new white tile. They are going to put in a big jacuzzi tube eventually. It was too dark to see the deck of that room by the time we got to that end of the 'tour' but they said there's still a hot tub outside too. They were VERY impressed at all daddy's construction out there!!!
The landscaping was butchered!! Whoever lived there last took it all out. They moved a fence up to the laundry room door for their 2 dogs. But their plan was to pretty much replicate the way we had it, down to our 'lovely white fence' as they called it. They may just move it in ' a bit' to make it more managable. Natilie is a big horseman and plans to build a riding ring where the garden was. They love the barn and only want to freshen it up some. I warned Chris about the snakes and dad's experience with one in his face one day. :) Chris said he absolutely would have screamed like a girl as well!!! I insisted they get a couple cats. And Chris agreed to do it if Natilie agrees to a mountian weapon to shoot off the local wildlife when it comes too close. :) I told them if they ever acheive 21 then John and Mary would love them for it! They were amazed and the wind. It hit my face like a welcome and familar cold slap as we got out of the car last night. I promise you it almost made me cry to hear it whistle in the tree tops!! Chris was so amazed he went and bought a weather meter to read it's gusts. He said so far it's read up to 95 miles an hour! I told him to invest in strong bolts for the screen doors. :) Natilie was so impressed and in awe of mom's porch pictures. They both ooohed and awed at the photos . They both pointed and said in unison, "SEEEE that's what we want!!!!!" Down to the swing on the end so Chris can keep an eye on Katie and her dates one day. (I tipped him off on the real reason Dad put in the octagon window!) Well I hope you guys enjoyed hearing all about the new life and love springing up in our old place. It's in good hands now rest assured!! I'll keep yall posted on how it comes along. We had a ball with the Britts and hopefully will be able to visit again. Isn't it funny how God works!??!

Quarantine time

Well this is proof of when a good stomach bug meets 30+ hours awake and mothering will do to a beautiful nursery!!! Monday morning I got home after working delivering babies all night to a green husband and a wild daughter ready to play. Bri had the dreaded stomach flu taking our city by storm and I was now on duty for the day. My precious hubby attempted several times to get up and relieve me so I could go to bed....only to stumble back to the toilet with his woobie around him like a little Indian man. So.. after sending chief puking face back to bed the Bit and I survived the day, well most of it in the nursery. Can I just say I have the best kid, she never once cried at the door to leave the room or pull a tantrum to make her boring mommy play with her. She just played quietly and made the obvious mess above while I dozzed and prayed on the floor in and out. Randomly waking to a book and a "ooh whoo" to read to her as she cozied up to me in the covers. God was such an awesome God that day to be my babysitter when I just didn't have the strength to watch her every second. The sweet pea made it from 10 until 4 in this mess until I finally made it back down stairs to make us some food. Brian is better now, the nastiness didn't hit me as hard although at 4 am the next day it said hello to me as well. We are recovering now and my beautiful lime nursery looks back to being spotless again. Really this is the worst that room has ever looked by a longshot. It's my favorite room in the house so it's the only one I actually enjoy being perfectly picked up every night. But proof is in the chaos above that God can totally get a family through some rough sleepless sicky times with a big green smile!

A fun day!!

I love this little man!!! He so just does his own thing and look out cause he's quiet but can get into trouble faster then Sue can talk!
can't you just see Sue saying "no seriously Hamilton, you're in the street we need to move!" Go super mom!!

I think Alexander enjoyed Abigail.... I know he was a huge hit in her little world, her big cousin was just too cool to not hug....a LOT
Yeah....sorry buddy she's a poker, believe it or not she was laughing not screaming here!
My sweet and wild sister Sue shot into town for a quick visit while her husband deliberated a ground breaking case about Franklin County cows. No joke! Poor Dave, he moves to civilized VA Beach and winds up back in Franklin Co arguing in court w/ a man about an out of control cow vs. a fence. I love it!!! Anyway..... we had a fast blast with most of the Ratz fam. We hit some shops and a quick lunch with the wild youngins and Mi-Mi. Such a great time just too stinkin short!!! Love you Ratz's so much and wish you were 5 min away instead of 5 hours!!! Smooches!! Dave we get a squeeze next visit when your not being busy and important!

Could not get enough Hammy love, so stupid cute!!

Run Forest Run!!!!!!!!!

Well thanks to our wonderful Aunti D Abigail is officially exposed to 80's music and is a big fan!!! I finally broke into D's Christmas present of kids singing 80's music...(I know, sounds a little annoying kinda right?!) NO it was sooooo stinkin fun and not at all annoying! I was singing along and movin and groovin right along with her (thank goodness no photographic evidence of that exists!) And as you can see, the Bit started shaking her baby groove thing...and then couldn't stop running laps around the laundry basket until the whole CD played through! So thank you Aunti D, your introduction and passage on of traits to your niece now includes love of sparklies, shoes and 80's hits!! We love you!!!!

Indoor winter carnivale

Well winter sucks but we're making the best of it. We found an indoor carnivale that we had a good laugh at this weekend. The Bit was much too small for everything but we let her run around anyway so long as the older bigger kids didn't step on her. (only a couple times but her tough Daddy took care of that big time fast!) She couldn't ride the rides cause she was too small and they wouldn't allow parents to go with her. And they had those big inflated jumping boxes but the kids were way too old and large for her to get in with them. So she opted to giggle and watch from the screen while pushing on the outside of the tent so she could participate. Soooo pitiful so we imediately headed off for a round milkshakes! To end a great family day we hit Chee burger Chee burger (sorry Bridget) and had milk shakes and fries. After she finished most of Brian's chocolate strawberry shake got into the cheese sauce and ketchup which she ate with a spoon (proof in the photo). Strange but a great day together. Hopefully sunny days and swimming are in the near future. Come on spring time!!!

This is sooooo not from my side....

Look at the size of this sandwich!! Given that she does have the Nonee, Sam, Allison size gargancho mouth... the onions, peppers and tomatoes is all her daddy's. Brian and I had our fill of leftover Bellechino's sandwiches and noticed that the Bit was not happy with our plates vs. her little mac and cheese with weenies meal. As a joke we handed her ours and to our delight and much amuzement she tackled it like a pro. :) Brian was so proud! You'd have thought she won an olympic medal or something.
