Camping!! Hard core SUMMER camping!

They look so clean and fresh starting out this fathers day weekend in the woods!

 Serenity now!!

I love this shot, it makes me laugh out loud!  Now that's one hot Bit!

What campsite is complete with out a good game of corn hole!?

I'm reminded to apply more sunscreen tomorrow!!  but her little sunburned cheeks were awful sweet

Nah, these dads aren't tired at all!   j

These 2 snuck off for some big kid alone time.  When they get older we'll worry what they're up to but for now they're still munching junk food and playing battleship.

It wouldn't be a good trip with out "May-May"

relaxing in the clear mountain morning air

Our site, and that's Ms Abigail typically and not surprisingly the last one awake.  James was pacing outside the door waiting patiently for his buddy to wake up.  It was so sweet!!

Yup!  That's me and Sarah on the taco!  We figured out we could have an actual uninterrupted conversation out there so we didn't want to come in

That would be what 2 very exhausted 9 year old's look like after a weekend of camping and boating kicked their skinny butts!

Call us crazy but we attempted and successfully managed an early summer camping trip to a nearby mountain lake with our dear friends Sarah and Rutherford.   Sarah and I cooked up this evil little plan and Brian and Ruddy just let us go with it. After hours of pinterest planning and late phone calls comparing notes of food and supplies we headed out.   Brian (of course) couldn't come up until late Saturday after work but we managed to set up camp and get the fun well underway before he arrived.    It was a blast of a weekend albeit a little scorching in the heat but their boat helped cool us all off during the days.   We pretty much stayed out all day long Saturday and Sunday until we just dropped from exhaustion.   They brought out the taco to pull behind the boat and that was a huge hit to the little people.  The kids enjoyed a lot of new freedom in the campsite as we were so in the middle of no where that we let them wander off to find their own fun feeling safe in our natural surroundings.    The lake had very few boats on it so every time we'd get too hot or just needed to wash the cheezy poof residue off our hands we'd just drop anchor and all jump in.    We must have spent at least a couple hours backed into a cove just relaxing on noodles and letting the kids swim like wild fish.  It was a beautiful lake and we hope to do it again some day.  The 2 families got along great and let me tell you, a 90 degree weekend in  a tent site next to friends will test how true that friendship is!   We did great and stunk like skunks when we headed home Sunday night.   Good times.
