Sue came up this week for a quick visit and it was so good to hug all their necks. Always. We did the water boat sun relaxing thing we do when they come and it was heavenly. Some highlights were when Dad told us he could get the boat working for a quick ride and the motor died in the quietest part of the lake at sundown with a crew of increasingly cranky kids at bedtime. We jimmied the trolling motor up just in time before I had to make good on my promise to jump in and pull us home. Of course we didn't have paddles, that would have made too much sense. It was a snails pace back to our dock but we didn't dare complain we were just happy to be moving in the right direction. And the sunset was lovely! :) Another was when Maddie showed her true colors at bedtime by absolutely coming to life and refusing to wind down for her poor exhausted mother. She stripped to her skins and dances for our delight and Sue's horror. It was priceless and I still crack up thinking about it. That child must sleep at some point but it is evidently an art to convince her to call it a day. The kids had a great time playing in the lake and making a slide off the dock out of an old raft. Mom and Dad just sat and watched their house be turned upside down the way they like it. Full of noisy grandkids running like wild everywhere. They seemed very content. It was a great visit.
